The geographic midpoint of San Diego is Mission Valley. It is part of the floodplain of the San Diego River, which at one time was a prime source of fresh water for the region. The Spaniards founded the original Mission San Diego de Alcala close to the base of Presido Hill, and ultimately changed it to its current locale in the Valley in 1774. The river is still a vital part of the area’s character. It travels roughly 52 miles from the peaks of Julian to the Pacific Ocean at Dog Beach in Mission Bay Park.
The San Diego River runs right through the heart of the town, unobtrusively zigzagging its way from the Cuyamaca Mountains to the Pacific Ocean. The territory has a seventeen acre community park nearby to the river that was bestowed by Civita’s originators, the Grant family, not too long ago. The park will include a discovery center, an interactive teaching and educational provision scheduled for educational opportunities and community get togethers. In addition, it will provide easy access to the marvels of the river, be highly accessible, and within walking distance to public transportation. Today, the district is home to several major shopping centers and malls.
Due to its easy accessibility to every major freeway, many attractions and suburbs are under 30 minutes away. It is a focal point of convenience inside, outside, and everywhere in between. It’s opulent and diverse history bestows it with many more tiers of experience than just passing through. Life in this hub is truly unique. Just in the vicinity alone you will find 45 movie screens, 200 restaurants, 450 shops, 12 miles of walking trails, 40 miles of hiking and biking trails, 18 holes of golf, 70,000 books at the public library, a professional football stadium, YMCA, and a lovely red trolley.
Stops include Old Town, Fashion Valley Transit Center, Rio Vista, Qualcomm Stadium, and Fenton Parkway. Further up, passengers will find stops at Santee, El Cajon, and La Mesa. To assist residents and visitors with an ever changing district, the region is divided into chapters. These areas are identified by their main streets like Friars Road, Camino del Rio North, Camino del Rio South, Hotel Circle, Old Mission, and the Trails Regions Park.
The area is littered with great schools from elementary schools and charter schools, to high schools, Montessori private schools, and universities.
From the district you can go west to the beach, and east to the state university and the mountains, or southwest to the international airport, the Balboa Park art scene, and more. With so much nearby, it’s easy to see why Mission Valley inhabitants have the least amount of commute time in the whole region.
